Took a quick trip to the city during my birthday weekend. DSC_1019 DSC_1002 DSC_1001 DSC_1000 DSC_0997 DSC_0989 DSC_0982

Although I’ve been living in New York for over a year now, I have never been to the city! It was about time I put an end to my wonder of the big apple and made some moves. My sorority sister and I packed our bags and took a flight during my birthday weekend to a place I’ve always wanted to go.

We mapped out all of the places we wanted to go and things we wanted to do but the unexpected blizzard sadly interrupted our plans. We had an awesome day on Friday, were sadly snowed in on Saturday, but hit the ground running at the crack of dawn on Sunday. As soon as the travel ban was lifted on Sunday morning, the city was up and running. I now fully understand why NYC is called the city that never sleeps.

These are a few of the many pictures we took during our trip. We stayed in Brooklyn, visited the empire state building, took a stroll in grand central station, shopped on 5th ave, explored times square, and had lunch in little Italy. The highlight of our trip was getting to see the color purple on broadway! This show was nothing short of amazing and a definite must see. I’ve never been one to be too crazy about celebrities but something about seeing Jennifer Hudson and Danielle Brooks live in person got me super excited.

I have to say that this was a super awesome birthday weekend. Another year older and another year wiser.
